Aplikace Záchranka
National app for emergency calls
The Záchranka app is designed to call for help in an emergency. At the touch of a button, it sends your exact location, medical profile and a description of the situation to the 155 emergency line. It is also available for blind and deaf users and works in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and the Slovak mountains. It allows users to issue danger warnings, contains a database of defibrillators and includes a first aid module. Since 2020, it has supported video calls and chat, which can also be used without the mobile app via the web portal.
We use the Mapy.cz API in the Záchranka app, where, in the ‘Hiking Log’ module, it helps users specify the exact points of their hike, which facilitates search and rescue operations.
However, it plays an even more important role in the Záchranka web portal, which operators use to receive emergency calls. The Mapy.cz API enables the location of callers to be pinpointed, their position to be displayed on various map layers, and the location to be converted into address points. Since 2020, the portal has supported video calls between the operator and the patient, which makes the work of paramedics easier.
