A website with snow reports from skiers, for skiers
KamZaSněhem.cz is aimed primarily at cross-country skiers, who use the site to share information about current snow conditions across the Czech Republic. This includes both groomed trails and areas where skiers make their own tracks. The site has been operational since 2009 and is one of the most visited Czech websites dedicated primarily to cross-country skiing.
The reason we use data from Mapy.cz is the winter version of the maps, which presents a wealth of useful information for skiers in a clear and organised format – information you won’t find anywhere else. We have been working with the API since the winter version of the maps was launched in 2013. Back then, we used it solely to display maps of the slopes in ski resorts. In 2021, we also added the maps to the main cross-country skiing section of the website, where we display skiers’ GPS route records and the locations of photos taken.
