Predicting tick populations in forest stands in the Czech Republic
The aim of the project is to develop a mobile app, including a web version, which will predict tick abundance and the risk of infection based on the classification of forest stands, habitats, climate data and other information. An interactive map showing the distribution of the common tick and the risk of Lyme disease infection in the Czech Republic was created based on 28,276 ticks analysed in 2021 and 2022. The application uses forest cover polygons from map data provided by the Institute for Forest Management in Brandýs nad Labem.
A map showing forest areas and woodlands in the Czech Republic, designed for the general public. The map also includes data from research on tick prevalence, specifically predictions shown as coloured polygons representing forest stands. The app also focuses on prevention and public awareness.
