Referrer overview in the API administration

We’ve added a feature to the Mapy.com API administration that many of you have been asking for: an overview of the referrers your API requests originate from.

You can now easily see which websites are using your API keys and how much of your overall API usage is generated by individual referrers. The overview helps you better understand the traffic generated by your applications and can also serve as an additional tool for monitoring their security.

If you come across an unknown or unexpected domain, you can investigate its traffic in more detail and, if necessary, take appropriate steps to protect your API key. A referrer alone is not reliable proof of misuse, but it can help you identify unusual API usage early.

What you’ll find in the overview

You can find the new Referrers section directly in the API administration. For each month, you’ll see the number of unique referrers, the number of API calls containing a referrer, and their share of your total API usage.

In the detail of a selected period, you can view individual referrers, filter them by API key or name, and open a detailed breakdown of their traffic. This includes daily usage as well as the number of calls to individual endpoints. You can also access the referrer overview directly from the usage detail for a selected month.

When is a referrer available?

We can only display a referrer if it is included in the API request. This is typically the case for requests coming from web applications. For requests made from server-side applications, mobile apps, or other environments, referrer information may not be available.

We have been collecting referrer data since April 2026. Data for earlier periods is therefore not available.
