Discontinuation of support for JS SDK

This information is intended for developers and owners or operators of websites that use the old version of the Mapy.cz JS SDK library.

  • Programming knowledge is required to migrate to the new REST API.
  • If you do not understand the information provided here, please forward it to your website developers.

Support for the Mapy.cz JS SDK library has ended. This library is now technologically very outdated (it was created back in 2006, with the last version released in 2015), does not meet modern standards, and unfortunately, it is no longer possible to maintain it. Do not use this library in your projects.

The successor to this library is the Mapy.com REST API (see below).

Timeline for Library Shutdown

  • ✓ January 2024 – Information about the end of support for this library was published more than a year ago
  • ✓ Spring 2024 – Information about the shutdown appeared in the developer console
  • ✓ September 2024 – A warning message about the end of support started appearing in the map and other JS components — in a small format that does not significantly affect end users
  • ✓ Autumn/Winter 2024 – The warning message in components will gradually be enlarged
  • ✓ January 2025 – The message in the components will take the form of a modal window, and end users will have to close it before accessing the content
  • ✓ Spring 2025 – The components will have such limitations that they should no longer be used on any “live” website. Components will stop being monitored. Temporary outages may occur.
  • End of 2025 – Components will become permanently unavailable

Current Status

Currently, the library should no longer be used. If you are still using it, the end-of-support warning is displayed not only to developers in the console but also to regular users of your application. The following warning appears in the map and other components.

Switch to the Mapy.com REST API

The Mapy.cz REST API was released in summer 2023 and serves as the successor to the JS SDK. We will continue to develop and support this solution. It is no longer about JavaScript components but rather about a data REST API. Therefore, it can be used not only on websites but also in mobile, desktop, and server applications.
